Family Intervention
The most common form of intervention in America is usually referred to as a family intervention. Family interventions can be performed by any one individual or an entire group of members, including other loved ones and associates. This is usually where the addict is brought in and each person has an opportunity to say to him or her how they feel, what they think, how much they love the addict and why they want them to get help. Somtimes this is done via pre-written letters, which is recommended by certain intervention guidelines, though it can also be off-the-cough and just plain heartfelt for that moment.

It is a good thing to remember when performing a family intervention that everyone there is on the same page - meaning they are there to help the person and not for some other reason such as an axe to grind or bone to pick. Having additional people there with intention other than getting that person help can be counter-productive to the family intervention process and possibly make it unsuccessful.
